Remembering John Lally

John Lally with Penny

John and I met in 1983 and married in 1985. We ran a small steak house restaurant together for a few years and then in 1988 we decided to start Penwith Pet Crematorium .

John was instrumental in obtaining contacts with all the vets surgeries throughout cornwall. Then, driving our little mini van ,would collect deceased pets from the Vets ,or from peoples homes.

He would then be responsible for cremating them whilst I would be dealing with clients either on the phone or over cups of tea in my kitchen. John always had time and compassion with distressed pet owners and with his lovely personality and ‘scouse’ sense of humour could deal with all sad situations wonderfully.

We were a good team, I came up with the ideas and John would graft to carry them out! Penwith Pet Crematorium was, and is ,very much a team effort. We have always built our success on trust and honesty and a service to our clients who's wishes always come first. This has included reading poems to a deceased Rat, but if John promised that is what would happen.

John sadly died in April but his memory will forever live on in our beautiful Memorial Gardens where he is buried (and I will be) and in every tree bush and building that we worked so hard to plant and create and in the memories of all the many people who were privileged to meet him.
I will be carrying on in the same way as always with the back up of our wonderful team;…PAM who often will answer the phone and does all our secretarial work, DAVE, her partner, who deals with all cremations and pet burials, and JASON, Johns son, who drives the length and breadth of Cornwall collecting beloved pets from Vets surgeries ,or homes, dealing with clients with the same kind and caring attitude possessed by his father.

Our Gardens are a tribute to the skill and dedication of JENNY who, now helped by DANNY, has created a beautiful, peaceful resting place and fitting memorial to all the many deceased pets entrusted to us.

2008 year is our 20th year and we intend to celebrate this fact with various events such as; a charity fun dog show and open day, a Pets’ service, an exhibition of children's’ paintings and hopefully an exhibition of animal sculptures in the gardens.
You can be sure John will be there in spirit.
